Just in case anyone was wondering....here is a list of how we save money each month. Some of them are weird...but hey, this way we spend more of my hard earned money on fun stuff like bowling, mexican food and new plants!

• We just switched to the FDT program with ALpower. It bills us instead of one flat rate of 7 cents per kilo/hour, we pay either a 3 cent or 6 cent rate based on the time of day. So from 9pm at night until 7am the next morning and weekends our rate is only 3 cents! So these are the times we run the AC, dishwasher, washing machine & dryer. So needless to say...it's a bit toasty in our house until 9:01pm when we crank on the AC for bedtime, this time frame is also when Allison showers
• Ben has begun turning off the water while scrubbing up in the shower since he showers during our higher priced power period....you may think this is bizarre, but every little bit counts, right?
• Our TV, reciever, subwoofer & dvd player are hooked up to one part of a power strip, and when we aren't watching tv..we cut the power to the whole system (except the dvr of course b/c otherwise it couldn't record precious shows!)
• we unplug the toaster and coffee maker after each use...take that Phantom Power!
• we sit in the dark in the evening, well we usually have one lamp on and the tv
• we buy groceries based on what's on sale at each grocery store, then we buy them at wally and have them price match whatever is cheaper! Ben has become a much better sport about this process, as it tends to hold up the line & typically draws a perterbed stare from those waiting behind & occasionaly if we're lucky...a little attitude from the cashier. But hey...I fight for my tiny bit of savings.
• we cook enough to yeild leftovers for lunch for both of us the following days and tend to make big batches of soup & freeze half.
• Ben walks to the coffee shop to study, and on some lucky dinner out nights, we walk to the mexican restaurant or to pick up take out chinese....thrifty & green!
• oh and how could I forget...if it's yellow, let it mellow..hahah
